2020. Do we need to say anything more?
It’s been a challenging year, to say the absolute least. But you don’t need to look too hard to find a few positive highlights amidst the chaos and quarantines. In the digital commerce realm, the luxury of having need for an eCommerce site took center stage. In some cases, companies reported doing more eCommerce business in one month than the entire pre-pandemic year. Commerce models featuring curbside pickup and BOPIS (buy online pickup in store) became more popular than a Charli D’Amelio TikTok. And average order value for online purchases continued to soar beyond traditional offline orders for many distributors and wholesalers.
B2B eCommerce grew year over year by 18.2% in 2019 to $1.3 trillion. But what will the impact of the pandemic have on the final tally for 2020? We’ll have to wait with bated breath until the numbers come out. But in the words of the 45th president of the U.S., it should be “Huuuuge!”
