Executive Summary

The Bourneuf Corporation, a plumbing and heating wholesaler founded in 1893 in Lynn, Massachusetts, implemented CX1 Showroom and CX1 SPEX Builder in 2018 to modernize the retail arm of its business. The integrated platforms gave Bourneuf an interactive online showroom where customers browse the full product line, build shareable wish lists, and get quotes in minutes, creating major efficiencies for staff, especially during the COVID-19 shutdown.

A Retail Arm Running on Paper

The Bourneuf Corporation has served its local community as a plumbing and heating wholesaler since 1893, adding decorative plumbing products and a retail showroom in 1988. Despite a small, single-location footprint in Lynn, Massachusetts, the company has endured for more than a century thanks to its extensive product offerings, committed staff, and personalized consultations.

The retail arm lacked an effective website. An early showroom site built in-house and a later third-party site both fell short of the company’s needs, prompting Bravo Business Media (now Unilog) to reach out about a better solution.

Two Platforms for One Showroom

In 2018, Bourneuf signed with Bravo Business Media (now Unilog) to implement two showroom-specific platforms: CX1 Showroom for a visually impactful, interactive browsing experience, and CX1 SPEX Builder, an online product selection tool for building shareable wish lists. Integrated together, they gave Bourneuf an all-new interactive website.

Full product line exposure

Customers can see the entire product line for every brand Bourneuf carries, beyond what fits in the small physical showroom.

Customer-centric shopping tools

Onsite navigation and filtering let shoppers search by product type or brand and drill down by color, finish, and style.

Wish lists

Shoppers build wish lists they can save and share with showroom staff, ask and answer questions within the tool, and receive a printable quote.

Quotes in Minutes, A New Mindset

With the conveniences CX1 Showroom and CX1 SPEX Builder provide, Bourneuf’s retail employees changed their mindset toward technology, creating major efficiencies and new opportunities.

Streamlined quoting

Consultation notes, quotes, and invoices were once handwritten; CX1 SPEX Builder now produces detailed project quotes in minutes.

Interactive engagement

Staff are notified when a wish list is created or changed and can interact with customers to finalize choices before they visit.

Invaluable during COVID

When the showroom closed in 2020, wish lists kept the business connected to customers online.

Employee resource

Any associate can pull up a customer’s wish list and notes to get up to speed and continue service instantly.
